BIOGRAPHY

William Watson Lavigno, III (“Bill”) was born in Dearing Georgia. He graduated from the The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1970. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Georgia Law School in 1972. Bill was the Managing Partner at various firms he created in Conyers, Georgia. After proving almost 50 years of legal services, Bill shifted his focus to criminal defense, complex child custody litigation, and personal injury cases. Throughout his career, he won millions of dollars for his clients.

Bill also believed in giving back to the community. He consistently supported the Miracle League of Rockdale County, along with other contributors, results in better playing conditions for the special needs players. Bill supported Project Renewal in its efforts for battered women’s shelters in Rockdale and Newton Counties. Bill also participated in the Pro Bono Project of the State Bar of Georgia by providing representation to low-income citizens of the State of Georgia.

Bill was a Juvenile Court Judge from 1979 to 1996. He was a member of the Juvenile Council of Georgia, Legislative Committee Chairman for the Juvenile Court Judges, having served as its President in 1993. Bill was a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Rockdale County Bar Association.

Bill was admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Georgia, Court of Appeals of Georgia, United States Tax Court, and United States District Court.

In his spare time, you could find Bill on the golf course, at the gym, or on the tractor at his farm. Bill is known for being a bulldog in the courtroom, but he was a country boy at heart. Unfortunately, Bill passed away in November 2021. Bethany Lavigno is Bill’s daughter and is carrying on the Lavigno law practice, although she has very big shoes to fill!
